A few thoughts coming off the Wired Business Conference in New York.
I was particularly struck by Neil Blumenthal's powerful speech (talk). Mr. Blumenthal, CEO of Warby Parker, came from the non-profit world and decided to build a successful company that has “doing good” built into the product. For every set Warby Parker glasses sold, a pair is donated to someone in need. This is more than a simple marketing ploy. Social good is a value inherent to the nature of Warby Parker and it's stakeholders.
Mr. Blumenthal used his #Wiredbizcon talk to articulate journey of creating a company that is successful in business and has a meaningful mission. Mr. Blumenthal believes that aligning the core product with a larger purpose will be the norm for business to attract high value clients and quality talent in the future.
This insight - one of many valuable thoughts expressed at today's gathering - shares SumAll.org's simple value of progressing social good within the entrepreneurial community.
